Home-Care Sector Offers ‘Significant Investment Opportunities’ – Right at Home
The home-care sector offers significant investment opportunities, according to Right at Home, one of Ireland’s leading care providers.
The company is participating in the Franchise Show in Dublin this weekend, and is seeking business-minded people to open new Right at Home franchises nationwide.
Commenting today, David McKone, Managing Director of Right at Home Ireland, said: “Our elderly population is growing at an unprecedented rate, with an increasing number of people needing care and assistance to continue living independently.
“Last year’s Census showed over 637,000 people are aged 65 or over. This is the fastest-growing sector of our population, having increased by almost 20 per cent since the 2011 Census. This figure is projected to grow 37 per cent by 2026.
“Over half a million people in this age-group live in private homes. This means there is major demand for the services Right at Home provides, and this demand is growing year on year.
“We already have franchises operating in Dublin, Galway and Cork, and we’re looking to expand right across Ireland in the coming years.”
Return on Investment
Mr. McKone said Right at Home franchise-holders must make an initial investment of approximately €150,000 – to cover working capital and their franchise fee.
“Obviously, there’s no such thing as a risk-free investment,” he said. “However, Right at Home franchise-holders have the security of being part of a trusted worldwide brand and of operating in a high-growth sector. They know they’re likely to see a significant return on their investment within a relatively short period of time.
“Most Right at Home franchise-holders break even in their first two years in business, and begin making a profit from Year Three onwards. With some – for example our franchise-holder in Galway – that happens much more quickly. Demand in the Western Region has been high, and our Galway franchise actually broke even within six months.”
Characteristics of Successful Franchise-Holders
According to Mr. McKone, franchise-holders need certain characteristics to achieve success.
“We’re not looking for investors who are out to make a quick buck,” he said. “We’re looking for people willing to work in partnership with the overall organisation and committed to making a positive contribution in their local community.
“We carefully vet potential franchise-holders to ensure they are right for Right at Home. No medical or homecare experience is required, but you do need the drive and determination to succeed.”
Right at Home provides training and support for all franchise-holders as their business is established and throughout its lifecycle.
The company is at Stand No. 320 at the Franchise Show at the RDS, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 from 10am to 5pm today and tomorrow, 8th and 9th September. The show is open to the public, and free to attend.
